This virtual community, primarily comprised of NHSC participants and alumni, offers users a platform to enhance their ability to assist underserved populations. The Association of Clinicians for the Underserved, which has worked with the NCPC for several years, will also lend its intellectual support as a multidisciplinary expert. This virtual community integrates three key areas of focus – training, resource file sharing, and peer-to-peer networking and support – providing users with a robust professional and social experience. Registered members of this virtual community will have access to more than 600 archived hours of CME/CEU approved presentations, podcasts, and enhanced modules on various health information. This virtual community will also host a series of live bi-monthly webinars and conference presentations. The resource file sharing component allows members of the virtual community to download and exchange approved guidelines, protocols, best practices, and job descriptions. Registered members within the virtual community will have the capability to rate (1-5 stars) these products and offer recommendations on their usage. The final component of the virtual community is peer-to-peer networking and support, facilitated through a team of bloggers, various chat rooms for private discussions, and linkage to Facebook and Twitter. The blogs will be authored by NHSC participants and alumni. As the virtual community continues its development, users will enjoy an integrated experience that offers a comprehensive approach to training, networking and file sharing. Primary Care for All is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the Bureau of Clinician Recruitment and Service (BCRS) under cooperative agreement with the French Center for Primary Care at Morehouse School of Medicine. |
